Role CAPS

Debra is the Assistant Director at CAPS. Her time is divided between direct clinical service to students, administrative responsibilities, and overseeing CAPS clinical services.

Specialty Areas

Debra earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Arizona and a Masters in Counseling degree from the University of Phoenix. She is a Licensed Independent Substance Abuse Counselor and a Certified Neuro-linguistic Programming Practitioner. In addition to her counseling role, Debra developed and maintains the Parents Matter program and is the Outreach Coordinator for CAPS.

Debra's clinical work focuses on substance abuse prevention and recovery, time and stress management, multicultural issues, social justice, relationships and general counseling using an eclectic approach including cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing and person-centered approaches.
